As most photographers, musicians and artists I don’t like to write about myself. Unfortunately there is no way around this, most people want to read a biography on your website. Most photographers can fill paragraphs with stories on published work and wicked stories about travelling for shoots, my biography would have been done then at this point. I’m the new kid on the block, so please allow me to introduce myself…
Born in 1976, I come from a creative family line with musicians, painters and photographers. I pick up these things easily and just as making music somehow photography came natural to me. February 2011 I bought my first DSLR, a Canon 60D. Left the manual in the box and with a clean slate and the world at my feet I went outside; my photography road trip had started… The love for old architecture, abandoned structures, industrial landscapes, odd shapes and natural decay pointed my nose quit quick into a direction called urban exploring (or urbex). Urbex and HDR go hand-in-hand, so do; re-touching, tonemapping, Photoshop and Lightroom; autodidact hurrah! First HDR shot was made in the basement of our apartment building, added some extra drama with light and as a practical joke I mailed this to the building owner, within that week they did send a cleaning crew. In the months that followed I did a lot of urbex trips and stepped up my game more and more. Looking at others work is the best learning school ever and a great benefit of urbex is that you always have a partner-in-crime. Mine is the equivalent of Yoda, so I picked up a lot of knowledge in a very short period of time.
In the first week of August the first inquiries landed on my voice-mail and in my mail box, that is how the ball got rolling. So if you want to try-out a creative and a little wayward photographer with a fresh set of eyes on things, feel free to contact me. I’m up for almost anything, but please, keep this in mind; fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people! And second, I do not take models to urbex locations, ever.
Regards,
Hans
